Our therapeutic model is to treat the 'whole person' signifying treating a client who has an eating disorder instead of the 'eating disordered client'. We use cognitive behavioral therapy to help the client work through negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We believe that clients can be healed from the harmful effects of trauma and eating disorders.
Why CBT is essential to our treatment plans:
CBT focus on our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Simply put, we believe that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors relying on our internal stimulator instead of external causes. This does not necessarily mean that there cannot be external factors but the balance relies more on our internal motivations. The most important aspect of understanding this approach to healing is realizing that we can change the way we think to help with creating positive feeling and healthier behaviors. This is especially helpful as we may have to accept that the situation may not change.
CBT has been known to be the most productive in terms of length of stay with your therapist. This makes homework essential to the treatment plan. This means the therapist and the client will both have to work hard to ensure there is continuous treatment with homework and follow up sessions. The developing relationship between the client and therapist is essential but not the focus of recovery. CBT provides a focus on helping the client help themselves, learning to think and act differently with the hope of being able to continue life with the ability and skills to deal with difficult situations as they emerge in life.
We want to work with you as part of your team to achieve your goal of freedom from your trauma, eating disorder, sexual addictions, and abuse issues.
