Groups meet for a minimum of 8 weeks unless specified. There is no limit on the number of groups an individual can attend. 
 
Our IOP is 16 weeks of intensive outpatient therapy, nutritional support, and groups based on the needs of the client.
 
How to Prepare for IOP Groups
  • Please bring your notebook with you to all group sessions.
  • Please dress appropriately, i.e. wear shoes, shirts, and no pajamas.
  • Please come prepared to contribute to the group, complete your homework assignments. Identify issues you’d like to discuss.
  • You will be allowed into group up to 10 minutes after the scheduled time. The group will close after 15 minutes.

Training classes: Classes are held on Saturdays. These classes are presented by Nursing  Staff

Therapeutic Groups by Levels
 
Cognitive Behavior Therapy Group-Level I: This group will give you a foundation for understanding the therapeutic process and what expectations’ you may have regarding your therapeutic relationship with your group leader and peers. Boundaries, relationships, the function of your eating disorder, and skills are processed in this group. Through discussions and role-play exercises clients are given the opportunity of integrating boundaries in their personal lives, as well as, learning ways to develop healthy relationships. Topics for this group may also include myths about boundaries, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and assertiveness training. (IOP ONLY)
 
Body Image Group- Level II: Body image group is focused on issues related to poor body image and comparing self to others. You are encouraged to utilize this group to process struggles with body image and comparing to help learn healthy methods of coping with negative and distorted body image. Topics addressed include: negative body image messages from past and present relationships, relaxation techniques, and mirror work.  This group may also provide information on body dysmorphic disorder as it applies to the group members.

Trauma Group:  Level I through Level IV: This group covers many aspects of trauma.  Trauma is defined, explored within the group, and processed on the negative effects the trauma has had on you in triggering your eating disorder, self harm behavior, and anxiety. There is no limit to the type of trauma you have experienced as this group will cover the trauma information that is indicative of its group members.
(This group is also active for those not participating in the IOP program)
 
Art Therapy: Level II and Level IV: This group will help the client find a creative way to share his/her experiences regarding trauma/eating disorder and how he/she see themselves. You do not have to be good at art to complete this group but have a desire to share your thoughts and feelings that you have learned and have been processing over the previous weeks. (IOP ONLY)
 
Sexual Addiction Group: This group will last through the entire IOP program (16 weeks). We will cover issues of porn addictions, multiple extramarital affairs, compulsive dating.
 
This is not a group  for sexual offenders. FTC does not treat sex offenders.
